Pumpkin superstitions master post!
These are just superstitious beliefs from where I live. As I’ve said pumpkins are a HUGE thing for us cause they grow everywhere and are really helpful for us lower class folk for eating when wirk gets more unpleasant in the colder months.
~The Superstitions~
Pumpkins are a symbol of protection specially jack O lanterns but just having a pumpkin on your doorstep is fine as well.
Those that carry pumpkin seeds and willing to give them are seen as warmer souls that have a deep connection to nature and animals.
Be kind towards pumpkins and they’ll be give back that kindness 10 fold.
Pumpkim seeds of any kind even treated with kindness are thought to ward off evil, ill intent yet attract the fae and kind spirits.
If you’re in a bind making a circle of pumpkin seeds is used for protection.
Making a circle of pumpkin seeds under a full moon at twilight is used to contact fae and kind spirits.
It’s believed planting pumpkin seeds will grant you luck + protection because a pumpkin never forget a kindness given abd will repay that kindness 10 fold.
Eating pumpkin on the 8th and 11th of October and the 6th of November is used in old fertility superstitions.
We were always told to thank the pumpkin patch when we get a pumpkin. It’s a sign of respect.

As a kid I was told the tale of pumpkin headed jack aka a innocent witch that was beheaded by the church and burried in a pumpkin patch, it’s believed if you wish on a seed and plant it that jack will grant your wish.
Pumpkins are used in witchcraft such as clairvoyance, divination and spirit work since they’re believed to list the veil.
As a kid, since there was so many pumpkin patches we were told to never smash pumpkins or else the pumpkin people would be mad at us. These are supposedly pumpkin faeries.
